What are the reasons to pass the TOEFL?

A little reminder about the structure of the TOEFL
The TOEFL is an academic English test, which is intended for non-native English speakers, usually requested during your university studies. It assesses your ability to understand and express yourself in English since it consists of 4 parts. TOEFL score – how is it designed?
Each of the 4 sections of the test: reading, listening, speaking and writing, is scored out of 30. The final TOEFL score is the sum of these 4 scores, a score between 0 and 120 points, 120 being the maximum score. Exam-Practice details the different levels of the scorecard.
How is the TOEFL rated? TOEFL score evaluation
Regarding the sections of comprehension, oral as well as written (reading and listening):
- If you got between 0 and 14/30, your level is low.
- If you got between 15 and 21/30, your level is passable.
- If you got between 22 and 30/30, your level is high.
Another 30 points are allocated to speaking:
- If you got between 0 and 9/30: low.
- If you got between 10 and 17/30: limited.
- If you got between 18 and 25/30: average.
- If you got between 26 and 30/30: good.
The last 30 relate to writing:
- If you got between 1 and 16/30: limited.
- If you got between 17 and 23/30: average.
- If you got between 24 and 30/30: good.
The total thus gives you your score on 120.
Interpretation of the final score
Once you have added your score per game, you score 120. You can evaluate your TOEFL score with equivalences to the CEFR levels. Depending on your score, but also based on your results in each section, schools or universities can know your English skills.
TOEFL score and study opportunities
Grandes Ecoles and Universities place a high value on the TOEFL score because, as we mentioned, it is a simple way to compare candidates to each other, regardless of nationality. This test is, therefore, a tool, which is sometimes required to access training. Each school imposes a minimum score on the test. For example, the LSE requests 105/120, and HEC requests 100/120. Schools sometimes impose a minimum score in certain sections, often speaking or writing. It depends on the program or the importance given to these faculties by the school. That’s why it’s important to know the TOEFL score. How to get TOEFL results?
Once the TOEFL exams have been completed, you will receive your attestation of results by mail to your home approximately 2 weeks after the exam date. This attestation of the result is proof of your level, it is valid for two years.
