This is very good guidance for the prospective IELTS test taker; however, I have 2 points to make:

    1. You do not mention that, in the case of the ‘computer-based test’, the Speaking module is still conducted face-to-face across a table with a live Examiner, in exactly the same way that it is for the ‘paper-based test’.

    2. As far as I am aware, all educational institutions in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand require results from the Academic IELTS test, not the General test.

How do I know? I am forbidden by the terms of my contract to tell you.

If you have registered for paper-based, you can’t change it to computer-based, but you can contact the British Council or IDP mentioning your concern, they might help you with that.
