IELTS Registration Process

Types of IELTS test

IELTS Academic Test
This exam is suitable for students who want to pursue a bachelor or postgraduate degree programme or the ones who are seeking professional registration in the UK.
Professional registration means you will get certification in reference of your profession. You will be entitled to use qualification titles such as Engineer (Eng.), Doctor (Dr.) or Technician (Tech.)
IELTS General Training
This exam is taken by ones who are either planning to study, work or train in an English native land like Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the U.K.
In this exam, you will be evaluated on the basis of everyday usage of the language with the content or questions focussed on workplace and social situations.

IELTS Registration: Eligibility

It is to be said that there is a limited number of places for all IELTS test session.

IELTS Registration Process
There are 48 fixed dates per year (up to four times a month), on which IELTS test is available for you.
You are allowed to give this IELTS test on any of the 48 dates as per your preparation as well as according to your convenience.
IELTS has 4,500 test centers in 165 countries across the globe.
1.IELTS Registration Process: Online Mode
This is the most convenient way in two of the prescribed mode. As through the online mode, you can register yourself in IELTS anytime and of course, on any day.
For this, you need to go on the British Council IELTS Registration page and then create an online profile.
After that, you need to pay the registration fees.
You need to pay the registration fees that is 12,650 INR in India and £232 in France.
In an online mode of IELTS registration, you will be required to
pay online using Net Banking, e-Wallets or Card (Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard)

2.IELTS Registration Process: Physical Mode
Regardless of IELTS Registration: Online Mode. The second option you get to register yourselves in IELTS is in person mode or Physical mode.
For this, you can register in person at the British Council Office. If you are an Indian candidate you can also register yourself at IDP India Office and if you are a France Candidate the option is IDP France office for you.
Then coming to the application form, in that too you have two options, either you can download the online form or fill a paper application form in the respective offices.
The fee cost payable at the time of registration is exactly the same as the online mode i.e. 12,650 INR in India.
You can pay INR by means of a Nationalized bank draft payable to the British Council.
Whereas in the case of France also, the fees are exactly the same as that of an online mode that is £232.
After paying, you will get the evidence of the payment, (either demand draft or the ‘acknowledged copy’) immediately.
Important Things to Remember at IELTS Registration
For IELTS registration, your passport will be the identity document.
Even on the day of your IELTS test, you need to carry your passport along with you, it is the only form of identity that will be accepted.
One thing that is needed to keep in mind and to be checked is that your passport must be valid/ not expired on the day of registration.
In case you are below the age of 18 yrs at the time of registration or on the test day then you have to fill a consent form and it must be produced at the time of appearing for the IELTS test.
After Registration of IELTS test
If you have registered yourself through online mode, then you will receive an immediate email confirming payment receipt. Your test date will be confirmed once you receive the regarding email.
Those candidates who are registered through the post/courier will receive a confirmation receipt.

IELTS Test Centres in India
When you will get yourself registered for the IELTS test then you will be asked to select your city and date of preferences.
IDP has facilitated to provide test center in all major locations in India. In India, the IELTS test is offered across 50 test cities and you are privileged to book your test center at any of the 34 IDP India IELTS office.
