What is the TOEFL exam? 2020 updated
TOEFL or Test of English as a Foreign Language started in 1964 by the Modern Language Association financed by grants from the Ford Foundation and Danforth Foundation. It is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enrol in English-speaking universities. IELTS Exam structure for 2020
The IELTS test consists of writing, reading, listening and speaking. The writing, reading and listening tests take place on the same day one after another without any break. The IELTS writing test will take up to 60 mins. Speaking Skills test will take 11 to 14 minutes (the speaking test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview. The Speaking test is designed to assess your use of spoken English. Every test is recorded.

The time given is 20 minutes on Speaking and 6 tasks, and 50 minutes on Writing and 2 tasks. Reading time is from 60 to 80 minutes long and 36-56 questions, while Listening time is from 60 to 90 minutes long and 44-51 questions. In between there is a 10 minutes break between the Listening and Speaking sections. In total, the exam is of 4 hours.

The registration fee of some institutions for IELTS is INR 14,000 ( approx $200). The computer-delivered IELTS fees are Rs 13,250. The IELTS for UKVI fees is Rs. 18,500. The life skills fees are Rs. 13,850. The pen and based IELTS fees are Rs. 13,250. Payment can be made by Credit Card/Debit Card or through demand draft or direct cash deposit at an authorized bank using customized pay-in-slip. Also, it is mandatory to attach the original customer copy of the deposit slip along with the IELTS application form. For transfer of test date, candidates need to pay an administrative charge of INR 3,300 inclusive of all taxes.

Major changes in IELTS and TOEFL in 2020
- IELTS: In 2020, small changes are introduced in January, to the instructions and layout of the paper-based Listening test. Section word has changed to parts.
The paper-based test will have part 1, 2, 3 and 4. The page number references are removed. Part 1 example is now removed, or the student can not hear the audio twice.
- TOEFL: Since, August 2019 some changes took place in TOEFL tests. The reading, speaking and listening sections are now changed. It now takes about three hours to finish the TOEFL, instead of 3.5 hours. Instead of these, the score and the weight is still the same.
The score is now determined by one human rater and the Speech Rater software. This is called “Enhanced Speaking Scoring” by ETS. The Speech Rater software is new. Whereas, previously the students were graded only by human raters.

4. Follow the directions to continue your registration and pay for your test.
5. When you finish, you’ll receive an email from ETS confirming your payment.
6. You’ll also receive an email from ProctorU with a link and temporary password to access your ProctorU account and select a test date and time. You can use this immediately to reserve your test date and time. If you don’t, keep it safe for future use.
