How is the exam conducted?
The TOEIC Listening and Reading Test is a written and timed test consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The latter is divided into two parts of 100 questions each. The first part is the Listening part during which we will evaluate your ability to understand what is stated in the voice clip. There are questions in the form of descriptions of images or photos, questions and answers, long conversations and mini-presentations. This first part lasts 45 minutes.
The second half of the exam is the Reading part, which will be used mainly to measure how well you are doing with written information such as circulars and frequent company press releases. In this part, you will have to deal with questions in the form of incomplete sentences, error detection, text comprehension. The second part lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The questions during the TOEIC Listening and Reading test are spread over 2 hours. The examination takes a total of 2h30mn.
The scores to be achieved
As you have already guessed, the score obtained is the basis for valuing your level in English during the TOEIC test. The score obtained can vary between 10 and 990 points. The score varies from 5 to 495 for each of the listening and reading parts. The higher your score, the more you will be able to demonstrate your ability to understand communications in English at the professional level. In all, the different scores can be classified into 7 different intervals.
905 to 990 points: International Proficiency or international competence
This level means that you are perfectly able to understand communications in English internationally and in all its professional uses.

255 to 400 points: Elementary Proficiency or elementary competence

185 to 250 points: Memorized Proficiency or memorized skills
With this score, you have limited knowledge of English without much mastery of professional dialogues.
10 to 180 points: No Useful Proficiency or no useful skills
This score means that your understanding of English is insufficient to be used in the professional field.
The results of the exam
After the exam, the results of your score will be sent to you or the institution that offered you to take the TOEIC test. You can then find your scores by section and an interpretation of your skills. This notification will take the form of an official certificate of results that you can already use to prove your English proficiency to your employers. You will also be able to request a certificate if necessary to confirm that you have passed the TOEIC test. The scores you obtained during the TOEIC test will be valid for two years.
